One of the biggest hurdles potential Disneyland Paris® guests face is deciding which hotel best fits their wants, needs and budget.

The 7 different onsite accommodation options available to guests (including Davy Crockett Ranch, Santa Fe, Cheyenne, Sequoia Lodge, Newport Bay, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel and Disneyland Paris Hotel) have been designed to meet the variety of these needs, with Marvel hotel being one of the more luxurious options available.

Restyled, rebranded, and reopened in the summer of 2021, Hotel New York was transformed into Hotel New York: The Art of Marvel and filled a much-needed gap by appealing to fans of the MCU.

It was also the first hotel I stayed at when visiting Disneyland Paris® as an adult, in March 2022.

But can the new and shiny reimagining of this tired hotel really justify the cost?

The Infinity Gauntlet of Hotels

Marvel and the MCU are one of my biggest loves, so when news broke that the Hotel New York was being closed for a full refurbishment and Marvel transformation, it immediately went to the top of my list as somewhere to stay.

I’d spent 7 years researching a trip to Disneyland Paris®, regularly quoting dates and waiting for the perfect moment. I’d become familiar with price points for each of the hotels and was expecting the Marvel hotel to be well out of my budget.

In May 2021 after 3 years of closure, Disney announced that
Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel would hold it’s grand reopening on June 21st.

Like many other excited guests, I waited with bated breath to see just how pricy a stay at the beautiful new hotel would be.

To be honest, I’d already decided I would be staying here; after losing my Mum suddenly, I wanted to treat my eldest to the really special trip his Nanny had longed to take him on.

Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel: Cost & Money saving tips

A week before the hotel opened, I was stunned to find a 2-night stay at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel with 2 days park tickets for less than £500 for two of us in March 2022. This was a no-brainer bargain, most likely because the hotel still had plenty of availability and bookings had not long opened.

After added extras, our hotel and ticket package came to £633.

I ended up purchasing annual passes ahead of our visit and booked an extra night hotel only for our arrival day too, which added an additional £256 onto our cost. Even with the additional night, the hotel stay was still a bargain in my eyes!

Note: Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel became wildly successful and is often booked up. While bargains can still be found on occasion, prices this low are now hard to come by. Find out more about booking your stay here.

You can get a good idea of the price point for Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel on sites such as booking.com, where you can view the price per night for every current date released by Disneyland Paris®.

As of writing, the cheapest dates to stay unsurprisingly are in Disneyland Paris®’s low season of January and February, where you can secure a reservation for £286 per night.

Stays at Disneyland Paris® will always be more costly the closer the dates are to the time you make your reservation. So right now (March 2023) the dearest stay is May 13th (£1.4k for the one night!).

Weekdays are more likely to be cheaper than weekends. Once you have a rough idea of which dates to avoid or that offer lower prices, you can head over to Disneyland Paris®’s website to compare the hotel and ticket package.

Package deals booked direct often included heavily discounted tickets, and you may find that the package costs work out near the same, if not cheaper, than booking a hotel-only stay.

(In this example I looked at 4 nights staying at Hotel New York – The Art of marvel via booking.com, hotel only, and Disneyland Paris® direct with 4 days tickets included.

The package direct costs less than £100 more including 4 days’ tickets.

So for the best price, check the price per night via a site such as booking.com, then head to Disneyland Paris®’s website for a package quote.

Arriving at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel

We arrived early, around 7 am, on our first day to check in and enjoy the hotel before heading into the parks. If you’re travelling to France the day before your check in, you can also pop to the hotel the night before from 8 PM to check in and collect your magic passes, which saves precious time on your first day.

After passing through security at the hotel entrance, we entered the grand lobby, which was empty of guests but full of bright, cheery cast members who all greeted us with beaming smiles.

The level of detail around the lobby alone was exceptional. On display are items from the films, including Captain America’s shields and Iron Man’s suits, and the walls are embossed with the Avengers characters we all love.

As I’d booked an extra night separately, I asked the receptionist if they could combine our bookings together and save us from having to move rooms after our first night.

After a few minutes, she returned with the good news that not only had they been able to accommodate our request, they’d upgraded our room to a garden view, overlooking the outside of the hotel and the lake.

We were gifted with exclusive pins, stickers and a marvel newspaper in celebration of the opening of Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel, as well as an exclusive print which was part of an offer when I’d made my reservation.

The care and service we received matched the promise and expectations of the four-star hotel, starting our trip off with pixie dust and magic.

Each Disneyland Paris® hotel also has large luggage storage facilities so no matter what time you check-in, you can leave your bags securely with the hotel staff and enjoy the parks.

One of the draws of staying at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is the amount and variety of artwork throughout the hotel.

Throughout every corridor and round every corner guests can enjoy over 350 pieces of Marvel artwork, created by over 110 artists.

The rooms are just as exceptional as the lobby. Unlike other onsite hotels such as Sequoia Lodge, rooms at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel provide a sense of space and pure luxury that create the perfect place to relax before or after a busy day in the parks.

Two queen-sized beds, a large bathroom with plenty of towels and products, Bluetooth sound system, exclusive artwork, smart tv, a coffee machine and a mini fridge are just some of the amenities the rooms have to offer.

The inclusion of a full-sized bath in our room massively helped my sore feet at the end of the day, and the beds were the most comfortable I’ve ever slept on!

Housekeeping came every day of our stay as well, which meant we returned to freshly made beds and restocked drinks.

I was especially impressed with the plug options, which included not just EU plug sockets but a UK plug point and USB ports too.

Disney’s Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is also the closest hotel to the Disneyland Paris® parks, only outdone by the Disneyland Paris® hotel itself (currently closed for refurbishment).

Less than a 10-minute walk from the hotel, through the village and into the parks makes staying here a very attractive option.

Food, Drink & Facilities at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel

Two restaurants, two bars, and an extensive room service option provide everything guests could want to satisfy their hunger.

We ventured into the Downtown Buffet Restaurant on our first night and weren’t disappointed. We were seated quickly and then able to explore the food options available at our leisure.

I generally find buffets can be hit or miss when visiting with kids. While they can seem like a good value option, if your child isn’t feeling particularly hungry at the time, it can end up feeling like a waste.

There was a huge variety of delicious food on offer, and once again the cast members–from those who greeted us and waited on us, to the chefs bringing out fresh trays of delicious food–went above and beyond.

Finished plates were cleared promptly before we returned to our table with more goodies, and the chef’s interaction with my son was magical. They even gave him a chef’s hat which made him feel extra special.

As we were celebrating his birthday, I’d also purchased a Spiderman birthday cake, which was bought out by the cast members at the end of the meal, to birthday music and song.

The Manhattan restaurant, themed on Asgard the home of Thor and offering an Italian-led menu, is a stunning experience as well with exceptional service. We opted for a full three-course meal. I had wine a paired menu with wine, which is an additional cost, but value for money in my opinion for the quality of what you receive.

To date, the Manhatten restaurant is one of my top 3 places to eat.

While we didn’t explore the bars in Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel (they are child friendly and offer mocktails and snacks, as well as alcoholic Marvel-themed beverages), we did order room service as a special treat on our second night.

Exhausted from the parks, and too tired to head out to eat, room service provides the much-needed comfort you may be looking for.

This was one of my favourite experiences of every trip I’ve made to Disneyland Paris®. Menus are provided in the hotel room, and a quick call to reception to put in your order is all that’s needed.

You can then pay for the food when it arrives, or have it added to your bill for when you check out. Bear in mind if you have an annual pass, the food discount does not apply to room service.

As we’d eaten “properly” during the day, we ordered a selection of desserts from the menu, including the cheese platter and fruit bowl.

Everything that was delivered to us of the highest, freshest quality.

Breakfast is also available for room service, which can be a great time saver before heading into the parks.

Exclusives at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel

Outside of being Marvel themed and close to the parks, a big draw is the hero station experience inside Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel.

This set experience is exclusive to hotel guests and can be booked via the App up to 7 days before your check-in date.

There are 7 stations to explore and create unique photo opportunities, including Peter Parker’s inverted bedroom which allows guests to become Spiderman!

Some Marvel heroes can also be met at the hero station for a photo opportunity, but this is subject to availability.

For aspiring artists, Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel also offers the opportunity to learn how to draw in the style of their favourite comic book. The Marvel Design Studio has multiple drawing stations and tutorials available to create your very own Marvel masterpiece.

This isn’t a bookable experience but may be subject to availability so check with hotel reception or the concierge desk for more information.

The hotel also includes a pool, sauna, steam room, fitness centre and outdoor Hero Training zone that includes basketball courts.

Though we wanted to make time to enjoy the pool, it just wasn’t meant to be on our trip, though I’ve heard from other guests it’s not the most child-friendly experience which minimal shallow end and a cooler temperature.

The hotel provides towels if you do decide to take a dip, so you don’t need to take up valuable packing space.

As will all the hotels onsite at Disneyland Paris®, there is a unique gift shop as well, which stocks almost exclusively Marvel-centred merch.

One of the main benefits I’ve found of the hotel shops is the shopping service. When you make purchases in the park before 3 pm that are over 50 euros, you can have your goods delivered to your hotel gift shop for collection after 8 pm.

This is a great solution to allow you to shop to your heart’s content, without worrying about taking your precious purchases onto rides or around the parks with you.

Is Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel worth it?

In my opinion, yes, a hundred times over.

But:

I am a huge Marvel fan, and after several trips to Disneyland Paris® value convenience above all.

The luxurious, spacious rooms, quality of service and closeness to the parks all are huge pluses in my mind. However, the price per night for many dates can put the hotel out of reach for many guests.

If you or your family are huge Marvel fans, and it’s a once-in-a-lifetime trip where staying at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel is a must, and you think you’ll spend some of your time taking advantage of the hotel facilities, I’d recommend booking a far out in advance to get the best price and spread the cost.

Booking via Disneyland Paris®’s website direct will allow you to spread the cost over up to 6 payments, with the balance due 60 days before your visit.

If however, you’re not that fussed by Marvel, are on a tighter budget, plan to spend all your time outside of the hotel, and just want an onsite hotel for a sprinkle of Disney magic & the extra magic hours, save your pennies and choose one of the other lovely hotels.

Will I be back there on a future trip? Undoubtably!

Let me know if you’ve stayed at Hotel New York – The Art of Marvel in the comments and if it lived up to your expectations!
