Davy Crockett Ranch is a Disneyland Paris® accommodation option available to guests visiting the parks. Often forgotten about or dismissed due to being a short drive away from the parks, Davy Crockett Ranch has a lot to offer as an alternative to a traditional hotel. A combination of Disney® magic and a tranquil cabin getaway, Davy Crockett Ranch at Disneyland Paris® has a lot to offer, especially for larger families where larger rooms are either fully booked or higher priced that the standard equivalent.

We’re a family of five–me, my husband and three children under eight, so while looking at where to stay during our Easter Disneyland Paris® trip 2022, Davy Crockett Ranch was an ideal option.

Booking Davy Crockett Ranch

Davy Crockett Ranch is set in a tranquil woodland area about 15 minutes from the parks. Although there’s currently no shuttle service available, recent changes to the signage at the Disneyland Paris® shuttle area included the addition of Davy Crockett Ranch which suggests this may be a change that’s being considered.

With no shuttle currently available, Davy Crockett Ranch is self drive only–that means you must have a car to stay here.

Due to security at the entrance to Davy Crockett Ranch, taxis and Ubers are unable to collect guests, and it’s not safe to walk to the parks as the route is along a motorway, so bear this in mind when considering staying here.

For us, this wasn’t an issue as we were planning to make the drive over to Disneyland Paris® anyway. As a family of 5, driving made the most sense as both the cheapest option (travelling via ferry) but also from a luggage perspective.

One of the benefits of being infinity annual pass holders at Disneyland Paris® is a room only discount when booking hotels and accommodation direct.

Whenever I begin planning a trip to Disneyland Paris®, I start by heading to either booking.com or hotels.com to get an idea of the current rate for the dates I’m looking to stay.

Hotel prices vary depending on time of the year, day of the week and availability at the hotel. As more rooms are booked up in the Disneyland Paris® hotels and availability goes down, the prices go up.

Davy Crockett Ranch has two different cabin options available that sleep up to 6 people, the Trapper Tribe and the Pioneer Tribe.

Both offer two bedrooms and bathrooms, a kitchen dining space and outdoor space with barbecue.

The main difference between the two options is that the Trapper Tribe cabin is located further away from facilities compared to the Pioneer, though most are within walking distance the hub area of Davy Crockett Ranch.

After checking out price on booking.com, I called the infinity concierge line–a benefit exclusively for infinity annual passholder’s–and requested a quote for the same dates. The discounted price came up £300 less than booking.com at £1087 for 4 days over Easter weekend staying in a Pioneer Tribe Cabin.

The Joys of Davy Crockett Ranch

When we arrived at Davy Crockett Ranch early on that first day, one of the first things we noticed was how peaceful and detailed the ranch was.

The walk into the centre of Davy Crockett Ranch is dotted with intricate carvings, beautiful flower beds, and leads not only to to reception but the ranch restaurant, bar, arcade and children’s playground.

Davy Crocket Ranch also has the best pool of any of the Disneyland Paris® hotels, which includes plenty of space to swim some lengths, and a flume slide for some extra fun too.

Davy Crockett Ranch cabins are self catering, which include a basic kitchenette in each cabin. To accommodate this, there is a well stocked shop on site that includes everything you could need during your stay, from breakfast goods, lunch options, alcoholic beverages and even disposable barbecues.

The store also includes the gift shop, with a mix of merchandise readily available in the parks and exclusive to Davy Crockett Ranch.

We enjoyed being able to meander slowly along Davy Crockett woods paths up to the village hub in the early afternoon, relax as the kids played in the park, and pick up something for lunch and/or dinner in the shops before heading back to the parks for some evening fun and fireworks.

Downsides to Davy Crockett Ranch?

Our visit to Disneyland Paris® was much more relaxing in parts when we stayed at Davy Crockett Ranch.

The vibe difference between the parks, which feels much faster paced, led with hustle, bustle and excitement, and the tranquility of the wooded Davy Crocket Ranch gave us a much needed breather throughout our stay.

We were able to enjoy proper rest and relaxation in the evenings thanks to the separate bedroom from our children as well, compared to if we’d all been sharing one hotel room.

However, there is a minor frustration when it comes to driving between the ranch and the parks.

Although on the surface, it’s a 10-15 minute drive, this only takes into account how long it takes to get from the ranch to the car park.

You also need to consider the earlier wake up time needed to get yourself and potentially several children ready and into the car to get to the parks, and then the queues when the car park opens at 8 am.

Guests at Davy Crockett Ranch can take advantage of the extra magic hour park access from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, before gates open to the general public.

But the time it takes to get up early, get to the car park, get parked, and then walk down to security and the park entrance ofter meant we didn’t make it into the park until 9 am at least.

This posed a bit of an issue – we either needed to leave Davy Crocket no later than 7:30 am to be first in the queue for the car park opening at 8 am, then route march it to the entrance for 8:30 am.

Or leave slightly later in the morning, forgoing our extra magic hour and wrangle with larger queues for the car park and parks turnstiles.

The Disneyland Paris® car park has a dedicated VIP parking area for infinity passholders, which we have access to, at the front of the car park, but I’d also like to see a dedicated parking area for guests staying at Davy Crockett Ranch, similar to the dedicated hotel guests ticket entrance at the entrance to the parks.

An addition such as this with a set number of parking spaces relative to the capacity of the ranch would undoubtably reduce the stress we felt getting to the parks in the morning.

If Disneyland Paris® do introduce shuttles to Davy Crockett Ranch in the future, I think this could also be a welcome addition that would negate some of this stress, and allow those of us who drive to enjoy a tipple after the fireworks too!

Would we stay again, and should you consider it as an option?

With all that aside, and everything in perspective, we would definitely stay at Davy Crockett Ranch again.

It’s a great value option compared with the minimal family rooms available in other onsite hotels, and has everything you could possibly need during your stay.

While we visited during Easter, it was warm and I can imagine that in the height of summer Davy Crockett Ranch would come into even more of it’s own, with it’s shady cul-de-sac’s of cabins and excellent onsite facilities.

If you’re a larger party of 5 or 6 and would like a breather from the excitement of Disney during the day and in the evenings, Davy Crockett Ranch should be near the top of your list. The additional space in the cabins can also prevent the feeling of being on top of each other if travelling in a group, and a fridge full of chilled drinks at the end of the day can’t be beat!

If you want to be within walking minutes of the parks and Disney village, or prefer the feel of a traditional hotel style, then Davy Crockett Ranch might not be the best fit to create magic during your trip to Disneyland Paris®.
